PAST

  • Inauguration on 24th of January 2010
  • Admission for the application process of the central agency for German Schools abroad in Asia (ZfA Asia)
  • Financial support by the General Consulate in Chennai expressing the appreciation of the sustainability of a school model
  • Setup of kindergarten, preschool and primary school
  • Successful ending of the first school year for 15 children up to class 5
  • Steady contextual and applied upgrade of the school concept in kindergarten and primary section; implementation of inter-year classes and an effective realisation of bilingual, interdisciplinary education

PRESENT

  • Since 04.07. the school takes place in a spacious building offering accommodation for about 100 students
  • Accreditation by the [International School Association]; increase of cooperation with German universities
  • Dissociation of former promoters like ZfA, the General Consulate in Chennai as well as the Chennai Goethe-Institut due to the rather fast contextual and conceptual advancement of the German School Chennai [internal link]
  • Setup of an own quality management for the qualification of teachers and other employees
  • Development of existing grades
  • Setup of secondary grades, classes 5-7 already established since the start of the school year
  • Relaunch of www.DSChennai.com, setup of an intranet
  • Steady development of the school premises according to international guidelines of the ISA; adding a sports ground and an additional building
  • Overall documentation of how the role model school DSC operates and based on that the development of a franchise concept
  • Association with the international organisation [Supreme International Schools] in Singapore

PROGRESS

  • Conversion of the limited liability company into a corporation
  • Distribution of 30% shares to interested parties (primarily parents as well as associated and partner companies)
  • Build-up of a school campus with boarding facilities; support of the lessons by latest technologies and media;  including a spacious sports ground; create many possibilities for living and recreation
  • Growing with the Supreme International Schools network
  • Steady advancement of the concept, adopted by latest results of research and education
